Bring scattered documents together. A practical guide to combining PDFs in the right order.
Combine your PDFs in the intended sequence, then verify the page count and document boundaries before sharing.
Prepare your PDF files
Keep a copy of each original. Rename the files with numbered prefixes so the intended order is clear. Open each document and check that its pages are readable.
Combine the documents
Open our Merge PDF tool and select at least two PDFs in the order you want them to appear. You can select up to 20 files, with a 50 MB limit per file and 150 MB overall. Clear the selection and choose again if the order is wrong.
Review before sharing
Start the merge and download the result. Open the new PDF, check the first and last page of each source document, and confirm the total number of pages. Bookmarks, forms and digital signatures may need separate verification.
PDF merge, combine PDF and join PDF: one task
A PDF merger combines existing PDF documents into a single file. Whether you call the task merge PDF files, combine PDF files or join PDF, the important distinction is that you are combining pages, rather than converting their contents to another format.
What to expect when you merge PDF online
An online PDF merger may upload files to a service or work locally. Here, PDF merge runs in the browser. If you need to merge PDF and JPG, convert the images to PDF first; selecting images directly in the merge tool is not supported.
A practical example
An application packet might contain a two-page form, a one-page certificate and a three-page transcript. The merged file should contain six pages, with each document starting where you expect.
Check your result
Check the selected filenames before processing. If the order is wrong, clear the selection and choose the files again.
